Carrière

Member of the Paris Bar since 1994, Jacques began his career at Gide Loyrette Nouel in a multi-disciplinary team before going on to practice law in Madrid at the firm Gomez-Acebo y Pombo. He then joined the firm August & Debouzy when the firm was first founded. In 1999, he became one of the twelve Secrétaires de la Conférence, an appointment based on a prestigious rhetoric and moot court competition that has been an institution in France for over two centuries. In 2003, he was amongst the founding partners of Alerion where he heads the litigation, arbitration and white-collar crime practice as well as the Spanish desk. As a member of the Paris Bar Council from 2015 to 2017, he was in charge of the Paris Bar international committee and formed the NGO Observatoire International des Avocats en Danger, as well as the association, Paris Place de Droit, which brings together different key players who contribute to the international development of the Paris legal market.

As the founder and General Secretary of Paris Place de Droit, Jacques organizes a number of conferences at the Paris Court of Appeals, the Paris Commercial Court, as well as the ICC and the Senate. Jacques was auditor at the Senate Institute (Institut du Sénat) and the 54th graduating class of Institute of higher studies in National Defense (IHEDN). Jacques is Vice-Chair of the Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association and Delegate of the Paris Bar to the Council of European Bars (CCBE). He was Vice-Chair of the Transnational Practice Committee of the American Bar Association. In 2021, Jacques was appointed as a member of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) working group on Dispute Settlement. He regularly speaks at conferences around the world, particularly on topics related to international disputes. In 1999, he presented the Paris Bar to the President of the United States. In 2015 he was called as an international reference by the Mexican Senate.
