À propos

With more than 150 years of history, Casalonga is a leading European IP law firm of more than 120 lawyers, patent and trademark attorneys, legal experts and engineers with offices in France (including Paris, Grenoble, Toulouse, Lyon, Montpellier, Beaune, Pau), Spain (Alicante) and Germany (Munich), as well as a global network of correspondents.

CASALONGA offers its clients full-services IP, from prosecution and counseling to litigation, covering all types of IP rights (trademarks, patents, designs, domain names and copyright) and related laws (unfair competition, distribution and economic rights).

CASALONGA's attorneys have extensive experience in proceedings before the trademark and patent offices and regularly appear before the courts. CASALONGA is involved in the most important patent cases (SPC, Frand, pharma patents, etc.) and regularly represent its clients in important trademark cases, both before the French IPO and French courts as well as before the EUIPO and the European General Court. CASALONGA is at the forefront of innovative and successful strategies for the defense and enforcement of the client’s  rights.

CASALONGA was:

  • one of the first private IP engineer consultant firms, with the foundation of Bureau CASALONGA in Paris in 1867
  • one of the first French firms to expand internationally, with the establishment of:
    • the Munich office in 1978, as a European & German patent attorneys office
    • the Alicante office in 1996, handling of EU trademarks
to optimize contacts with European authorities, intervene directly before the EPO (Munich) and the EUIPO (Alicante) at lower costs and to represent the clients before German and Spanish offices and courts.
  • the first French law firm to include both attorneys-at-law & patent and trademark attorneys, creating a full-service IP firm whose clients do not have to engage different firms for prosecution and litigation. The combination of attorneys-at-law and patent and trademark attorneys enables CASALONGA’s teams to follow their client’s cases from the inception phase through any court proceedings and also provides more balanced advice, taking into consideration litigations risks.

The law firm is organized in five different departments:

  • patent prosecution and counseling
  • trademark and design prosecution and counseling
  • domain names and Internet prosecution and counseling
  • wine, spirits and law food
  • IP litigation (including patent litigation and trademark and design litigation).

Those different departments work closely together, providing the clients a strength that no other firm may provide.

CASALONGA provides its clients with the following:

  • A full IP service and excellence in all fields – CASALONGA provides all types of IP services with specialized lawyers, trademark and patent attorneys and specialized staff. CASALONGA's international department enables to better advise the clients globally as well as cost-effectively.

Furthermore, CASALONGA has always believed that IT and legal innovation are key.

IT innovation to create efficiency and costs savings for the clients is at the heart of CASALONGA's mission. CASALONGA believes that an IP law firm cannot only provide legal services, but also has to provide IT and legal solutions.

In particular, CASALONGA believes in innovation through exchanges, not only among partners, but also with clients, associates, assistants and other professionals.

For each difficult legal issue, CASALONGA has developed a new way of thinking, involving different types of competence, for a full open collaborative discussion. CASALONGA's three-fold competence of lawyers and patent and trademark attorneys truly helps innovation with case law overview from the EPO, the EUIPO, the Court of Justice and the French Courts, and most of all, different backgrounds with different ways of thinking.

CASALONGA regularly exchanges with its clients in order to understand their needs and develop new IP tools to serve such needs.

In the context of the entry into force of the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and the Unitary Patent (UP), CASALONGA recently developed:

- the UNITARY PATENT APP, accessible directly via CASALONGA's website (https://upp.casalonga.com) and available on Google Play and Apple Store, which allows one to calculate in advance the official fees required to maintain a granted patent, depending on whether the unitary patent has been chosen or not (more information here).

- the Interactive UPC Code, freely accessible to all upon registration on www.upc-casalonga.eu, to easily navigate through all of the UPC texts and to better understand the system thanks to a number of commentaries (more information here).

These IP innovations are very much appreciated by the clients as they help them to be more efficient and cost-effective.;
